You can use either regular granulated sugar or Sugar in the Raw. Sugar in the Raw yields a more crystalline/shiny/sparkly look. The sugar colored above was done with regular granulated sugar. 1/4 cup sugar liquid food colors Place sugar into a bowl, add about 16 drops of food color, then smoosh it with a spoon or fork until the sugar is evenly colored. Let the bowls sit out for a while until the sugar has completely dried, stirring occasionally with a fork. You can see when the sugar is dry, the granules are smooth and not chunky, and flow smoothly out of your hand without sticking to it (for example, the sugar pictured is not yet completely dry) Store in baggies or jars or whatever suits you.
