1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 large eggs 2 3/4 cups flour 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar 4 teaspoons cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
1. In large bowl cream together butter, shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar.
2. Add eggs and mix well.
3. In bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture and stir until well mixed.
4. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
5. Form dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in cinnamon sugar mixture and place on ungreased cookie sheet or parchment lined sheet. DO NOT flatten the dough balls, they will flatten on their own as they bake
6. Bake in preheated oven for 11 minutes (I bake for 9 minutes, rotate sheet and then an additional 2 minutes). Let cookies cool on pan for a few minutes before removing them to a cooling rack.
Makes about 3 dozen
