2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 sticks butter 1 cup water 1/4 cup cocoa powder 2 eggs 1/2 cup sour cream
Icing:
1 stick butter 1/4 cup cocoa powder 6 tablespoons milk 1 pound powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and flour a 11 x 16 jelly roll pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan combine 2 sticks butter, water and 1/4 cup cocoa and bring to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove from heat.
Pour the boiling mixture directly into the bowl with the flour mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until it is well blended.
Add eggs and sour cream and stir until well mixed.
Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes.
When cake is about half way done baking, start preparing the icing.
Combine 1 stick butter, milk and 1/4 cup cocoa in a large pan. Cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
Dump one pound powdered sugar into the boiling goo and beat until well blended and smooth. Stir in vanilla.
Spread the hot icing on the cake right after the cake comes out of the oven.
Cool cake completely before serving.
